I have always loved the look of the Pottery Barn Fabric Lined Easter Baskets, but never wanted to pay the high price for them. I decided I would make them myself. They are super easy and no sewing needed.
Material List
Easter Basket (I used a large size)
Fabric (I used 1 yard)
Iron on Letters (Hobby Lobby, Michaels)
SuperTite Fabric Glue (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Wal-Mart)
First I measured the fabric by placing it in the basket. I then draped the fabric over the sides and cut the fabric to the bottom of the basket all the way around. The cut does not have to be perfect, because we will be folding the ends up. You do want to make sure there is enough fabric to glue under and hide the edges. It is also important to give enough slack in the fabric to make sure it is not being pulled inside the basket. I also cut slits in the fabric so it would hang nicely around the handles of the basket (For step by step instructions watch this video).
Second I used a push pin to mark where the iron on letters will go. I placed the letters in the middle of the basket. I then took the fabric out and ironed the letters on. This is a very easy step. Follow the instruction on the letters and you will have no issues.
Third I placed the fabric back into the basket and made sure the letters and slits in the fabric for the handles all lined up nicely. Once I had the fabric where I wanted it I took the SuperTite Fabric Glue and placed a small amount of glue on the edges of the fabric began folding them up and under giving a nice edge. You do have to hold the fabric together for about 10 seconds to make sure it is secure. After folding under the edges I began glueing the fabric to the basket while ruching the edges together (Step by step detail in this video). This gave a little more detail to fabric. Again you will need to hold the fabric to the basket to let the glue set.
We absolutely LOVE how these Easter Baskets turned out and our littles loved them as well.
