Chalk Paint is one of the easiest ways to update and refinish a piece of furniture. I love it because you don’t have to strip the previous layer of paint or stain. Below are the items needed and steps to follow.
Items needed:
- Simple Green
- Purdy 2″ Angled Brush
- Chalk Paint (I used the color “old white” by Annie Sloan)
- Clear Wax Finish Coat (I used Annie Sloan)
- Buffing Brush
Steps to Follow
- Lightly sand top finish if needed (This step is not always needed).
- Clean the item you are painting with Simple Green.
- Wipe down the item a second time with a wet rag, no Simple Green.
- Use your paint brush (I used a Purdy brush) and add the first layer of paint.
- Add as many coats as needed or desired (I painted 2 coats).
- Once paint has dried if you want the distressed look. Sand some of the areas you would like to be distressed.
- Add a layer of wax in a circular light buffing motion. I like to buff in with a rag as well.
- Let wax coat dry overnight.
- Light sand the first layer of wax and add a second coat.
